Overheating-true or false?

MEGAS:
Yesterday evening i parked my opel gt in a friend's garage for about 2 hours.
I then start it up and go and after 0.5 mile the DIC temp shows temp rising very fast (1 degree celcius every second)and hits 108 degrees celcius.
I stop the car,shut it down and open the hood.I saw no leakage but the coolant tank level was a bit higher than normal(it was boiling??).
After 3 mins i start again and drive and the temps started go down again very very fast on the DIC.
It finally reached the normal operating temps and no problem since then.

Any ideas about what was that?sticky thermostat/DIC malfunction or something else?
